Polio Awareness Golf Tournament

The Polio Awareness Golf Tournament was conducted by our Club on Friday, September 9, at the Lake Spivey Golf Club in Jonesboro. nineteen golf teams and dozens of sponsors and volunteers came forward to support the event. The tournament is designed to raise funds to support service projects in our community, but this year we also chose to focus additional attention on the efforts of District 6900 and Rotary International to eradicate polio. As we know, almost forty years ago Rotary International initiated our worldwide project to eradicate polio from the earth. This year, data indicate that polio is almost gone. We might be about to reach the extraordinarily ambitious goal set almost forty years ago. We at Lake Spivey/Clayton County Rotary are proud to say that all during that time our local Rotarians have partnered with Rotary International in that effort.
